Paramus captured it's 2nd straight Cerbo AA Spring State Championship on June 22, 2009. During the regular spring season Paramus went 8-0 scoring 120 runs and only allowing 13. This carried over into the playoffs. After a first round bye, Paramus faced off against the NJ Mariners. Paramus threw a 2 hit shutout en route to a 12-0 victory. Lime threw 3 innings of no hit ball and Ewax threw 3 innings of 2 hit ball. this lead to a divisional final against the NJ Rocz.
Paramus fell behind 1-0 after the top of 1 only to come up with three of their own in the first to take a 3-1 lead. Paramus went on to win 9-2 lead by home runs by nubs and lime as well as good pitching by Nick who threw 3 2/3 innings of 2 hit ball and Chris 3 1/3 of 1 hit ball. Offense was also added to with 2 hits for Brandon and Connor.
State final would be played against a tough Phillipsburg Liners team from Phillipsburg NJ. Paramus was never really in jeopardy winning the game 9-2 despite their pitching becoming very erratic with many walks and two it batters.
Paramus scored 150 runs in the 11 games they played and only gave up 17. They averaged almost 14 runs per game while only giving up 1.5 runs per game. Great Job!
Paramus Elite went Back-to-Back at Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth Beach, De. Paramus won the 9U tournament in 2008 playing top notch ball and came back into 2009 as defending champions but with much stiffer competition blocking their path.
The tournament started with the same team they beat in the finals the year before, Baseball Academy of Norwin out of the Pittsburgh area. The game was a shortened 11-0 win with a 2 hitter being thrown by Lime. Game 2 was against a tough Delaware Hurricane team and again it was shortened 10-0 win with a 4 hit shutout by Connor. Paramus looked very solid in the first two games and looked for more as they went into Sunday morning.
Sunday morning brought the Revolution, also out of Pittsburgh. The Revolution came to play and hit the ball all over the ballpark and Paramus answered but did not have enough even with Nubs' 2 run homer run to right center. Paramus dropped, what would be their only loss of the tournament 10-8. After a tough loss, Paramus had to come right back and play the very strong Delaware Blue Hens. Ewax threw a stellar 1 hit ball game en route to a shortened 16-2 victory. This victory secured the number 1 seed for the single elimination round and secured a first round bye.
The single elmination came right back to playing a strong Delaware Blue Hens time again. Delaware came out on fire and truly played to their potential starting with a 1-0 lead after the top of the first. Paramus came right back and tied the game on Nick's fence scraping home run in the deepest part of the ballpark with the highest fence. The game was 1-1 into the top of the 5th when the Blue Hens scored 2 on a triple to right field. Paramus got one in the bottom of the 5th to make it 3-2. Bottom of the 6th started with the only walk the Blue Hens gave up in the game and it would hurt. Nubs came around to tie the game and it was extra innings. Into the 8th we go all tied. Lime gets on and Ewax comes in to run and promptly steals second. Regs steps in and hit his hardest shot of the tournament, a laser into the left cetner field gap that enabled the walk off run to score. Chuck started the game but couldn't get out of the second inning as he was warrior all weekend but was just beat up. Heim came in and shut them down the entire way.
The finals started out really tough for Paramus. They faced off agains the very strong Lehigh Valley Venom. Lehigh jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the top of the first. Paramus, showing the heart of a lion, came out and got three of their own to chip away. 6-3 after 1. Top 2 saw LVV add one but Paramus came back with an awesome bottom of the 2nd to take an 8-7 lead after 2. In the top of the 4th LVV added 1 to tie it only to see Paramus put up 4 of their own to take a 12-8 lead going into the 5th. Several walks lead to LVV adding 3 in the top of the 5th that went unanswered by Paramus leaving the game 12-11 into the top of the 6th. LVV had 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs when the final out came on a fly to center. The dog pile ensued and Paramus gained their back-to-back championships.
Paramus finished off 2008 with a 54-2 record and capturing several major titles en route to the record.
The season started with a championship at Baseball Heaven's Pre-Season Bash the last weekend of March. Paramus incurred one of their lossed during the tournament but rebounded to win the championship over the LI Bayport Bluepoint Bombers 8-4. It then went on to an undefeated spring season playing in Cerbo AA and winning their division and the state title over Roxbury 13-0 and finished with a 13-0 record.
Paramus then travelled to Sports at the Beach for the Beach Sizzle tournament during the Memorial day weekend. Paramus promptly captured the championship trophy going undefeated scoring 80 runs and only giving up 13. They defeated Baseball Academy of Norwin, PA in the finals by a score of 13-3.
Paramus finished their spring campaign with a record of 23-1 and then on to the summer with the NJYB (AABC) and Paramus Summer Tournament.
NJYB is a 46x65 leading and stealing league with a state tournament and Paramus Summer Tournament is a 46x60 little league tournament. Paramus dropped their second game of the year by losing to a tough Pearl River team 4-3 in extra innings. This game fell on the back half of a 94 degree day and we had several players suffer from heat exhaustion but we fell short. Paramus went undefeated in the Paramus Summer Tournament and won the championship and then entered the NJYB State Tournament. Paramus had a very tough draw playing 3 of the best teams in the first three games. It started with a game against Allendale in which we hit 3 home runs and won 11-0. The next game was to our rival Pearl River, the same team that handed us our second loss of the year, we won that game in 4 innings with a score of 10-2. The next game led us to play Clarkstown Black another very solid club. Paramus won 12-4 and cruised into the elimination round as the only undefeated team. Paramus drew Clarkstown again and this time the game started very tight. Paramus was down 1-0 until the 3rd inning when they started to put across some runs and won 10-1 to advance to the State Finals against, once again, Pearl River. Paramus once again found themselves down 3-1 until the 3rd inning when they got a 3 run home run from Nick to take the lead and then began to pile on runs and 15-4. Paramus finished the summer with a 31-1 record and the year with a 54-2 record.
Congratulation to all and look forward to 2009.
Paramus Elite stays hot as they go undefeated at the 3-day Beach Sizzle tournament at Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth Beach Delaware.
A wonderful weekend of weather with sunny skies every day and the highs ranging from 72-80 degrees. The weekend started off with a walk thru of the complex on Friday afternoon. Paramus had the early start on Saturday which began at 8:00 against the Baseball Academy of Norwin. Paramus started out slow but with only 4 runs through 5 innings. We went to the bottom of the 6th tied and we received a walk-off single from Nubs to drive in Joseph for the game winner. Paramus would not look back for the remainder of the tournament by run ruling every game thereafter including the championship game. The scores:
Paramus 21 - SPF2 1
Paramus 13 - Carroll Manor Phoenix 2
Paramus 13 - SPF 3
SEMI FINALS
Paramus 15 - Carroll Manor Phoenix 0
FINALS
Paramus 13 - Baseball Academy of Norwin 3
Paramus runs scored 80 while only giving up 13.
Congratulations to the players, parents and coaches. Winning of course was great but getting to watch the kids hang out and fool around together all weekend was the best part. An who could forget the great BBQ's we had. HINT for all future BBQ's. Someone else get the chicken! Thanks FCL.
Game highlights will be added in the "highlight" section.

Paramus Elite took home their most recent tournament title at the very nice complex in Yaphank, LI known as Baseball Heaven.
The weekend started under a 40 degree and windy sun on Saturday against the LI Baymen Roadrunners. The Paramus bats were quiet in both games on Saturday but they were led by a few timely hits, stellar defense and 4 innings of 1 hit ball from James. A lead off walk by Brandon and a triple and an error for James to lead off the game as well as a few Roadrunner errors in the first gave Paramus 3 runs which was enough to pull out game 1.
Game 2 was clash of, in my opinion, the 2 best teams at the tournament. Paramus and Hackensack Comets. Hackensack's pitchers were flame throwers and as I said, Paramus bats were not there for Saturday. The combination of great Hackensack pitching, non aggressive hitters for Paramus and 1 forgettable inning on defense for Paramus resulted in a 6-2 loss.
Game 3 was against the LI Wolves. Paramus bats came out hacking from the first pitch. Paramus was much more aggressive and Paramus needed to win and hold LI Wolves to little or no scoring if they wanted a shot at the finals. A large number of extra base hits, Nick and Conor breaking out of slumps and solid base running pushed 12 runs across the plate in 4 innings for Paramus. They also got 3 innings of no hit ball from Brandon to not only a win but by giving up 0 runs giving them a shot for the finals. It all came down to the game between the Blackstone Valley Spinners from RI and the LI Bayport Bluepoint Bombers. The game was close most of the way but as you know at 9U in a long tournament pitching becomes the issue. The Bayport Bombers opened up a large lead and scored 13 runs assuring a place in the finals for Paramus who only gave up 8 runs in three games.
The finals started quickly with a lead off single by Brandon who went to 2nd on an overthrow. Nick smoked one to short that was mishandled and Brandon came around to score putting Paramus up 1-0. Conor followed up with a gap double to plate Nick for a 2-0 lead and Jimmy grounded out on a FC for a 3-0 lead after the top of 1. The Bombers came right back with 3 hits in the first and plated 2 runs as Nick settled into the game. Paramus up 3-2 after 1. Paramus came right back in the top of the 2nd on a leadoff walk by Danny and a perfect bunt single by Chris put men on 1st and 2nd. With 1 out Emil ripped a shot to plate 2 more and gave Paramus a 5-2 lead. Nick settled in for the next 3 innings keeping his pitch count down and allowing 2 walks and 1 hit after the first. Paramus added 1 more in the third on walks. The top of the 5th the inning was started with a single by Brandon who was forced on a FC then James was forced on a FC. With 2 outs and Nick on 1st, Conor stepped to the plate and hit a 2 hopper to the 230' sign in center field. He scampered around for a true inside the park home run. Congrats. Nick was out of pitches and so we put James in to throw strikes and play defense. The Bombers loaded the bases against him in the 5th but we wiggled out and on a grounder to second. In the bottom of the 6th, the Bombers had the meat of the order in place and they hit. A lead off single, a double to the fence put a man on second and plated 1. A comebacker got the first out and then 2 more back to back singles plated another and put 2 more on base. A soft flare to the pitcher and a groundout to Chris ended the game in an 8-4 championship win for Paramus. Congratulations.

The 2008 season is open and upon us. Paramus jumped into their first game with a strong showing at the dome in Flemington, NJ known as Jack Cust. The game was March 1st and the opponent was the Warwick Bulldogs from Warwick, PA. Paramus used 6 different pitchers to get the arms loose and allow everyone to get some work and won easily with the final in 5 innings being 22-1. Congratulations to Little Jimmy (no, he doesn't sell italian ice) for hitting his first homerun to left.
The second game of the tournament was against a more formidable opponent in CHYAA from Cherry Hill, NJ. This was an early morning game at 8:30am, ouch. CHYAA had solid pitching and hitting. Paramus again used 6 pitchers in an attempt to get work for all in preparation for Baseball Heaven's Pre Season Bash. Thanks to a solo shot and his first home run from Chris and a three run homer, also his first from Gavin, stellar defense and solid pitching, Paramus won 9-2.
The final game for Paramus was March 15. Paramus Elite beat Readington Red Knights by a score of 18-1 led by 6 different pitchers, a leadoff home run by Brandon and home runs by Danny and James. Congrats guys. It is now on to Baseball Heaven for the Pre - Season Bash March 28-March 30.

Paramus Elite finished their first regular season with high marks. Paramus Elite capped the spring season as they did from the start with excellent pitching, unbelievable defense and timely hitting. The Chamionship game was played at Sirianni Field in Paramus against the Ramapo Rangers on June 17, 2007. It was a very tight game through 2 innings with Paramus leading 1-0. Paramus then opened it up with 9 runs in their half of the third and didn't look back as the game ended after 4 innings, 12-2.
Paramus Elite finished with a perfect 10-0 record with an amazing 139 runs for and only 20 against. This is almost 14 runs per game scored and only 2 per game given up. Congrats to the players, parents and coaches.

Paramus Elite Win Again!
After losing their first game to Lyndhurst Blue 5-4 in this marquis double elimination tournament, Paramus Elite rolled on to win 6 in a row to make into the finals. Paramus Elite needed to avenge their only loss of the season to date. They did, to the tune of a 10-1 drubbing against a very talented Lyndhurst Blue team. The win set up a showdown for the championship.
Lyndhurst Little league did a great job of making this very memorable for the children as they painted the field with the names of the towns on their respective sides of the field. Now to the game. Lyndurst Blue came out hot with 2 in the top of the 1st and it could have been more if not for a diving catch at second by James. The Elite came back with 4 of their own in the bottom of the first capped by a 2 run triple by Brandon. Paramus went up 6-2 before Lyndhurst worked their way back into the game. In the top of the 3rd it was 6-2 and lyndhurst loaded the bases with no outs and the top of their order at the plate. Paramus was able to get out of it with an RBI ground out, a strike out and a put out to only give up 1 run. This was a huge spot in the game because in the top of the 5th Lyndhurst added 2 more, making it a nail biter at 6-5. Paramus had the top of the order coming up and here is how it went in the bottom of the 5th. Joseph hit a grounder between 1st and 2nd that the first baseman fielded but Joseph digging down the line beat the covering second baseman to the bag. James came up with a hard line drive that Joseph scampered to 3rd on and James followed him to second setting a second and third with no outs. They promptly walked Nick to get load the bases for our number 4 hitter, Conor. There was a time out so I called Joseph, James and Conor to third to talk about the first pitch. I told Conor that the pitcher throws a lot of first pitch strikes and that we have 2 fast kids on 2nd and 3rd. I told Conor to focus on the first pitch and if it was their, crush it. The first pitch was right down the middle and Conor hit a 2-run single right up the middle. The top of the 6th was uneventful other then Chris taking a hard hit ball and throwing the first hitter out and then a sliding catch of a weak fly ball up the middle for 2 away. The final out came on a good low and away pitch and a weak pop up to the pitcher James. Celebration time! Congratulations to all.
In 9 games Paramus scored 88 runs and that is an average of just under 10 runs per game and gave up only 20 runs which is an average of just over 2 runs per game.

Paramus Elite make it a perfect 1st year!
Paramus Elite 8U finished up their first year playing together with another championship. Paramus Elite needed all 6 at-bats to beat a very talented and well coached Teaneck team in the Dumont Manning Tournament. Paramus fell behind early by not being as crisp in the field as they usually are. Teaneck hit the ball hard and scored 3 in the top of the 1st. The Elite went down easily in their part of the first. Paramus then scratched out 2 in the bottom of the 2nd to pull within 3-2 on a double down the left field line by Gavin. However, in the top of the 3rd 2 more errors led to 2 more Teaneck runs giving Teaneck a 5-2 lead after 3 innings. Paramus Elite came up in their half of the 4th still trailing 5-2 when the leadoff hitter, Brandon, stroked a hot shot to short but as it seemed to be every play, Teaneck made another great pick and throw to retire the first batter. Jimmy started off with a single and Danny got beaned and we were in business. Gavin came up again and stroked another double to drive in 1 making it 5-3. Ewax grounded out to first but drove in another run making it 5-4. Brian got up in a tough spot with 2 outs and the tying run on third but he came through. Brian laced a single into right to tie the game. Paramus Elite had a chance to go up in the bottom of the 5th but James was called out on a very close play at the plate. Teaneck stepped up in the top of the 6th and Conor shut them down 1-2-3 as we needed to because 2-3-4 were coming up for Teaneck. the bottom of the 6th started a lot like the 4th when we had a rally. Brandon laced another hot shot up the middle that took a high bounce and the 2nd baseman made a great play to throw him out. Jimmy hit a hot shot to short that took a tough hop and went into left for a 1 out hit. Gavin came up with 2 outs and a man on first so we knew we had to get things going. On the first pitch, Jimmy had the steal sign and we were hoping we could catch them sleeping and get a runner into scoring position or Gavin could hit one in the gap with Jimmy moving and win the game. Gavin was hit by pitch setting up the last play of the game with 2 outs in the last of the 6th. Eric jumped into the batters box eager to hit and laced a shot down the right field line which the right fielder had it played perfectly and fired to first base to try and force Eric. It was a bang bang play that would have ended the game but he was safe. At the same time this was happening, Jimmy was coming from 2nd and we never slowed him down and the first baseman didn't look home so Jimmy cruised through the plate for the 6-5 win. What a game!
For the year Paramus Elite finished with a record of 31-1 and scored an unprecedented 425 runs for with only 80 against. Those numbers are staggering. Paramus Elite averaged over 13 runs per game while only giving up 2.5 runs per game. Keep in mind this is over 32 games. Great job to all and the bar is set very high for us as well as teams behind us.
